Free Trial, Enrollment and Class Packs
1. How do I enroll in a class?
Contact us by email, WhatsApp +351 910 430 144, or by filling out the form below. We're happy to answer your questions and share registration details. We aim to respond within 24hrs, but response times may vary when we're teaching during the day.
2. How do I schedule a free trial class?
Get in touch via email or WhatsApp. New students can enjoy a free trial class, depending on availability. It's a great way to experience our methods and meet our teachers before committing to a full package.
3. What is my level and how does class placement work?
During your free trial class, the teacher will assess your skills to determine your
level - beginner, intermediate or advanced (A1 to C2), and place you accordingly. Come as you are with what you know (or don't know). There's no pressure to perform, whether you are at the very beginning of your language learning journey or simply looking for more advanced immersive learning in Portuguese.
4. How long are the hours in my packs valid for?
To help you stay on track and make progress, class packs are valid for the following periods from your start date:
- 3 months for 20-hour packs
- 5 months for 40-hour packs
- 7 months for 80-hour packs
If you require more flexibility, please let us know, and we will consider a possible extension of the pack validity, for special circumstances only.
5. Can I pause my class pack?
If needed, you can request a one-time temporary pause of up to two weeks per class pack period, outside of national school holiday breaks.
Payments and Refunds
1. What forms of payment are accepted?
Payment details will be shared during your enrollment registration process. We accept the following forms of payment in Euros:
- Cash
- MBWay
- Bank Transfer
All payments must be made before the start date of your first class to secure your spot.
2. Are refunds available?
Refunds are not available after class packs have started, but we’re open to discussing alternative solutions.
Class Size, Attendance
and Scheduling
1. How many students are in each group class?
We aim to keep class size to an average of six students. For more popular class times, there will be no more than eight students permitted in a group class to ensure an optimal learning environment.
2. What is the class schedule?
We currently offer classes five days a week, Monday through Friday.
3. Do classes follow a specific calendar?
Yes, we follow the national Portuguese school calendar, closing during official holidays and vacation periods. If students in a class require days off beyond the national calendar, the class must be in total agreement in deciding to cancel a class. We have limited classes during the summer holiday season, based on student interest and demand.
4. What is the cancellation or missed class policy?
For reasons such as travel, illness, or personal matters, students can miss without penalty up to:
- 4 lessons per 20-hour pack
- 6 lessons per 40-hour pack
- 8 lessons per 80-hour pack
We must be informed at least 24 hours in advance by WhatsApp +351 913 257 475 to avoid losing hours for missed classes.
5. When should I arrive to class?
Please arrive to class on time and ring the doorbell at the start of your class time. Late arrivals are disruptive to the flow of class, so please do your best to arrive on time.
6. How long is each class?
All classes have a duration of 90 minutes, but may vary depending on the group's goals and objectives.
Learning Materials and Resources
1. What study materials are provided by the school or required of students?
Study materials from third parties, such as books and manuals, are purchased separately by students based on the class level. Your teacher will guide you on what you need and where to purchase them.
Additional resources created by Escola Bom Dia to supplement your learning will be provided free of charge as part of your course learning (e.g. handouts in class, links to media sources).
Students should bring their own notebook and pen or pencil to take notes.
2. Can I share the class materials with others?
Materials are for your personal use. Please do not reproduce or share them without prior authorization.
Feedback and Support
1. How can I provide feedback about the school or class?
We welcome your feedback. Please share your suggestions, compliments, or concerns with our team at any time. We aim to improve the learning experience with your help and input. We value our student and teacher community deeply.
2. What if I’m not satisfied with my initial classes?
Let us know during the first two weeks of classes, so we can find the best solution for you.
Community, Culture and Special Programs
1. Do you organize extracurricular activities?
Absolutely. We host cultural events, workshops, and other activities to enhance your learning experience. Our school community actively supports its members with resources, recommendations, services and a general spirit of 'we're all in this together.'
2. What are the school’s inclusion policies?
We are committed to providing a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of age, nationality, gender, or skill level.
3. What languages are spoken at the school?
While our diverse student community comes from all over the world, our bilingual classes are primarily geared for English-speakers learning Portuguese. We encourage and motivate our students to speak Portuguese in class as much as possible to progress their learning.
4. What standards of quality can I expect?
We are committed to providing high-quality language instruction to enable students to reach their goals, whether it's preparing for CIPLE/CAPLE language exams for citizenship or to gain confidence navigating daily interactions. If something doesn’t meet your expectations, let us know, and we’ll address it promptly.
Policies and Procedures
1. How do you handle my personal data?
We prioritize your privacy and handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
2. Is there parking at the school?
There is free and easy street parking in front of the school. Because our classes are small, there's little to no competition for spots.
3. How does the school communicate with students?
Each group class will have its own WhatsApp group for sharing resources, updates, assignments, and schedule changes. Each student can post to the group and message the teacher privately, if needed.
The school uses an all-school WhatsApp group to share general school updates, announcements, and resources that can benefit everyone.
4. How do I know if I am
progressing?
Your teacher will provide feedback on your progress through assignments and conversations, setting personal goals and providing regular updates on areas where you've improved and where more focus is needed.
5. How do you prepare students for the CIPLE/CAPLE exams?
We prepare students for language exams by infusing the following into our lessons:
- Targeted practice: We provide practice exams and specific exercises aligned with CIPLE/CAPLE exam requirements.
- Exam strategies: Your teacher will guide you on the best approaches for each part of the exam, from reading and writing to speaking and listening.
- Focus on real-life use: We emphasize practical language skills, ensuring you're ready for both the exam and everyday Portuguese usage.
